ASCs are regulated federally by the Agency of Healthcare Administration (AHCA) and receive federal inspections every year. Inspections are unannounced. As a licensed ASC, you may obtain a Medicare provider number which allows your facility to bill insurance companies for facility fees. ASC's can be either single specialty or multi-specialty and are required to have a Licensed Health Care Risk Manager, either employed or retained as a consultant.
